Hi all,
I recently mentioned the problem with FinkCommander crashing on gnome
compile, and Alexander pointed out that it would probably work from
terminal.app. This turned out to be (mostly) true. But I still have
growing angst and confusion on the following points:
1) still cannot get to current gnome-core-dev because of the
scrollkeeper segfault error. I've rebuilt scrollkeeper before and it
says 'current' but still halts the compile, this is all with
Terminal.app
2) I saw a compile scroll by yesterday with a bunch of warnings about
that 'weak' thing that seemed to be related to PATH pointers in the
10.1 version of fink (don't have the details at hand) and I'm wondering
if I need to fix that using the info that was posted. Sorry this is so
vague, ignore it if it doesn't ring a bell. I'll be checking the FAQ
again soon.
3) Every time I compile something (successfully even) I still get
warnings about system-xfree86, which I abandoned some time ago for
Fink's packages. Did some of my packages get compiled against
system-xfree way back when and fink is remembering that? How do I tell
fink to get over it already? :0)
4) What is the difference between libpng and libpng3; one package made
me install libpng3 and archived the previously installed libpng, and
then last nite I was 'experimenting' and I tried 'fink update libpng'
and it made 'current' the libpng entry and 'archived' the libpng3. So
can I just get rid of one of these guys?
5) that imlib thing is cleared up and no longer an issue, right?
Thanks for the top notch help on this list. I would have long ago given
up the hope of learning to use the great open source tools available
here (let alone OS X and the Terminal) if it hadn't been for all of you.
Regards,
--Michael
