After the hassle with dependencies and old sourcecode everything in
tetex now seems to work. Here is the output of the commands that you
used above:
fink --version
Package manager version: 0.29.8
Distribution version: selfupdate-rsync Thu Aug 27 10:45:36 2009, 10.5,
i386

This seems similar to yours, except for the version of fink.
A version of xdvi came with tetex, and worked, but this is not the one
I'm familiar with and so I downloaded the separate package, which also
works:
fink list xdvi

i xdvi 22.85-1 Display TeX .dvi files under the X
Window System
xdvik [virtual package]
The libXm files in /sw/lib seem to be the same as yours:
ls -l /sw/lib/libXm*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 3551728 Aug 27 10:05
/sw/lib/libXm.3.0.0.dylib*
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 17 Aug 27 10:05 /sw/lib/libXm.3.dylib@
-> libXm.3.0.0.dylib
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 17 Aug 27 10:05 /sw/lib/libXm.dylib@ ->
libXm.3.0.0.dylib
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 828 Aug 27 10:05 /sw/lib/libXm.la*
I don't know why your xdvi doesn't work.
Best wishes,
