xdvi works here, and I have that symbol in libXm.3.0.0.dylib:

$ nm /sw/lib/libXm.3.dylib | grep ResCheck
001bd704 T __XmEditResCheckMessages

What version of openmotif3 do you have? (e.g. via running
" fink dumpinfo -fallversions openmotif3-shlibs | grep bi | cut -f2 ")?
