First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List

I still have the metal locking cap that was on my car when I bought it in '82. There are no identifying marks on it. It fit and worked perfectly, but I finally replaced it because the gasket was deteriorating. The new cap is plastic, so trimming it was easy, but the pressure builds up, so I question whether I should continue using it.

The '68 owner's manual recommends a non-vented cap for all Firebird applications. The link to CG Enterprises doesn't work for me.

Andy,
Here is the link. I am waiting for a response from them
regarding the dimensions. Everything I have found locally is to big.
You bring up a good point. Should the cap be vented or nonvented? I am tempted to buy on of the Canada ones to see what it looks like. If it works, they might be able to sell alot of them the this list.
