Dan,
The Summit kit uses a Ford style filter element (PH8A or equivalent).
The difference is in the diameter of the threaded hole in the center of
the element. I'm not aware of Ford filters having a bypass valve. Is he
thinking of the antidrainback valve that is designed into both types?

Andy\Gary,
Thanks for the info. My engine builder told me to get a remote filter
housing that accepts a ford filter because the ford filter has the
bypass in the filter and I don't have to worry about the fixture at
the engine not having one. I ordered a part from Tin Indian
Performance for the engine. It is a cnc aluminum part that has the
ports sticking straight out from the engine instead of down. It
sounds like a pain to drop the filter housing each time but I guess if
you don't put a lot of miles on the car you shouldn't have the change
the filter all that often. I did notice that Tin Indian had teflon
reusable gaskets for the housing. Have you tried this and do they
seal well?
Thanks,
Dan
