I am not sure. He made it sound like it was actually in the filter. He
said he has done this type of mod before and it worked well. I guess I will
have to get more info. By the way what size lines should I use? 3\8" or
1\2"?

Dan,
The Summit kit uses a Ford style filter element (PH8A or equivalent). The
difference is in the diameter of the threaded hole in the center of the
element. I'm not aware of Ford filters having a bypass valve. Is he
thinking of the antidrainback valve that is designed into both types?
