No smoke with the missing dipstick. I have one in there just for
placeholding, but when the tube (on the top of the engine) was empty,
no smoke came from under the hood, no oil coming out at all.

Seems to me that with a missing dip stick ,you would get smoke!??
My dip stick wasn't all the way in once and it created a LOT of
smoke at
speed...oil coming out that tube ,getting on exhaust......
