First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... My '67 is completely apart and as I was disassembling my front brake assemblies I ran into a problem. I have drum brakes and cannot get the spindle separated from the backing plate. I have the entire drum and spindle assembly on the workbench so it is easy to work on and most everything came apart just fine. But....there is a large "pin", more than an inch in diameter, at the top bolt where the ends of the brake shoes meet. I cannot get this separated from the spindle. All of the bolts are removed and I have only managed to get this thing to move about 1/16th of an inch. Any suggestions? I would definitely like to upgrade to disc brakes but that will have to wait. It's one of those pesky budget thingys!! Thanks, Ronnie Tadlock
