I borrowed a ball joint separater and pushed out the lowers. Then used an air
chisel on the bushings. Just get a firm hold on the control arm, angle the
chisel on the outer lip of the bushings, and they fly right out. I didn't
believe it myself till I tried it. Pushing the new stuff in, I used the ball
joint tool again, and then a vice, some large sockets, and more than one or two
swear words, before relenquishing them to a buddy with a press. Afterwards, I
thought maybe rigging something like a spring compresser, but with pipes and
plates to push them in, but that wouldn't help for the upper bushings, as the
shaft has to be in place. My biggest factor in letting someone with the right
stuff do it, was risking screwing up more in parts than the cost of the labor.
Then again, I basically worked out a labor swap. But it is something to
consider.

Hope this helps.

If they didn't beat on your parts with a hammer, you got a fair price. A
friend of mine brought his loose parts to the Dodge dealer in 1979 to have
bushings pressed in/out/in and they charged him for the price of the job from
the flat rate book as though he left his car of in the shop for the repairs!
Once they had his parts in their grubby hands, all he could do was pay. No
arguing at the window helped.

I would worry more about how your repair is accomplished than the cost. If
they did a correct job, you paid a fair price. JMO

I had NAPA press mine out. I sandblasted and painted them, then took them
back to press them in. I got hosed. $135.00 for the work.
