Jeff,
You won't have to change very much. You'll need a vacuum source for the
transmission
modulator. You will be able to reuse your exising transmission
crossmember. I'd buy a
new transmission mount, and of course you'll need a torque converter for
the TH350.
It should just bolt onto the existing flexplate.
There are some conversion kits for the shift linkage. Assuming you have
a console and
the shifter is in the console, you'll need to modify the shifter to
allow all three forward
gear selections. You might try to source a used 3 speed shifter from
eBay or a used
parts source.
Any Pontiac transmission should bolt up to any Pontiac V8. Some
technical issues
may apply to late 50's and early 60's variants, but for the most part
they bolt on fine.
There are some vendors who show up at the swap meets in my area who offer
special deals on performance built transmissions and you might try the
same for
your locale. Else talk to the other muscle car and hot rod guys and
gals in your area
and get some suggestions on good sources. Upgrading from the 2 speed to
a 3 speed
will make you pretty happy I'm sure.

If I just go to a TH350 will I have to change anything? Also, will it work
with a rebuilt 400?
