I think you're over complicating it. The engine and trans are already 1/2" offset to allow for room for the steering column and gear box. Put it together the way Pontiac intended!!!

Subject: [FGF] 70's Engine Motor Mounts

Are conversion brackets necessary to get the engine position right when you are using a 70' block (mine is a 72')? CI sells PN C269514, p. 722 in their F2008 catalog. The description says the brackets are necessary for proper engine positioning etc.

I've beat myself to death trying to align the tail of my transmission 1/2" offset towards the P-side in order to line up with the differential's offset. Basically, it's not possible without modifying the motor mounts, i.e. rounding out the motor mount plate hole where the single bolt goes through to the motor mount itself to allow for more adjustment. This can't be right. Anyone run into this issue?

Thanks,
Sheen
