Here's the deal...both the engine mounts and differential are offset 1/2"
towards passenger side. We seem to agree on that and I confirmed by measuring.
My crossmember, built for a Tremec, also has the mount offset 1/2" towards the
P-side. However, the transmission does not line up with the mounting holes. It
was angled such that the trans mount landed about in the center. I confirmed
this by take several measurements from the subframe rails. The problem is there
is not enough adjustment in the motor mount plate bolt hole to let the tail of
the tranny swing over to the correct 1/2" offset position. When I saw the
conversion plates in the CI catalog, the thought was maybe these are necessary
to get it all lined up right. I bet most guys don't even check pinion or
driveshaft working angles. I'm not using a single original driveline part on my
car so I want to make sure it gets set up right.
