First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... Yeah, there are two filter brackets. The one for FGF's is 90 deg points the filter straight down (in normal config) and has the sender hole out the side. The other one, used on A bodies and second gens tilts the filter in towards the engine and has the sender hole towards the rear. Be sure you have the FGF bracket. I learned this the hard way. My motor was from a GTO. Bob S. In a message dated 9/12/2009 2:26:26 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, [email protected] writes:
First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... Dan, I cannot help you with the valve. I believe that there wasn't one in the non-air conditioned cars. My brothers' 69 never had one. He bought it from the second owner. The three bird I have had, and my buddies never had one either. Also, I believe you may have the wrong oil filter adapter. I would bet you have a late model one which would angle the filter towards the oil pan or, now, trans with the long branch adapter. I have long branches on my car and have no issues. Look at these pictures.... This is a late model style (although a re-make)note the angle... http://www.wenzlerengineering.com/IMAGES/oil1.jpg this is the correct one... note how it is straight.... ignore the ring..that's so you can use a chevy filter http://image.highperformancepontiac.com/f/8759393/hppp_0605_enginemaster s_pontiac_33_z.jpg joe...the expert..... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Submissions to Firebird-L: <[email protected]> Unsubscribe from Firebird-L: <[email protected]> Help: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/firebird/Firebird-L.html> Classifieds: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/ubb/> Owner Pictures: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/show/> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Submissions to Firebird-L: <[email protected]> Unsubscribe from Firebird-L: <[email protected]> Help: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/firebird/Firebird-L.html> Classifieds: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/ubb/> Owner Pictures: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/show/>
