I too run the 200R4 with 3.23 posi gears. I cruise 70mph at just under
2000rpm. 19 mpg on the highway.

It's all about sacrifices; either you sacrifice a little speed for mpg, or
you sacrifice mpg for a better launch. It's all your choice.

The sweet spot for the 200R4 is a 3.23 - 3.73 gears IMHO.

Also, beware of the "swap gears with a spacer ring". The 8.2 BOP had 3
carriers, and usually when you move up from one series to another, you need
to replace the center unit (carrier) to correctly fit the gears. I'm not
sure how strong gears are with spacer rings.

What kind of price are you being quoted for the NOS 8.2 highway gear posi
carrier?

I have a 200R4 with a 3:23 posi unit in it on the 8.2 BOP 10 bolt and I love
it, It runs great thru the quarter and yet runs about 1900 in 4th gear at
70 mph. I bought an auburn unit.

Just Smile... It makes people wonder what you have been up too...

Hi guys

I've been offered to buy a brand new NOS 8.2" limited slip rear gear
carrier.
It's made for 2,56-2,73 gears but the seller claims I can use 2,93-3,23
gears if I get an adapter ring.
Today my Bird has an open 3,08 differential.

I feel the need for a posi rear end so I'm really tempted to buy this unit
but I'm also in the process of installing a 200R4 transmission.
Will the 3.23 gears be to low (numerically) for my combination?

/Niklas
