I ran a 2.56  rear end (that was stock in my car) with the 2004R for 7 years
till I swapped in the 3.23 posi axle (it came off of my 69 coupe and it has
disk brakes) and it's perfect!
I used to cruise at 70 at about 1350 RPM (the 455 has plenty of low end torque
so it didn't care) and now it's at 1800 rpm which is excellent. I can smoke the
wheels in first gear and get a nice chirp when it shifts to second.
I use a control module made by B&M to control the lockup torque converter and
it's real nice since it has a knob to adjust the lockup speed as well as a
button to quickly engage and disengage the lockup (for hills or spirited
passing).

Subject: [FGF] Rear gears for 200R4 transmission?

First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List
.........................................................................
Hi guys

I've been offered to buy a brand new NOS 8.2" limited slip rear gear
carrier.
It's made for 2,56-2,73 gears but the seller claims I can use 2,93-3,23
gears if I get an adapter ring.
Today my Bird has an open 3,08 differential.

I feel the need for a posi rear end so I'm really tempted to buy this
unit but I'm also in the process of installing a 200R4 transmission.
Will the 3.23 gears be to low (numerically) for my combination?

/Niklas
