I looked thru my 69 repair manual and for what you are describing there is no 
spec for torquing the nut, the spec is for the amount of "drag" it takes to 
turn the pinion.  It says to seat the pinon and bearings and then tighten in 
small increments and keep checking drag torque.  The spec for drag torque is 17 
in-lb for a used bearing and 25 in-lb for a new bearing.

Hi All....
Something I said??  lol.  Not one response from my previous email so i am going 
to try again.
Any one have an idea what the torque spec is on the rear diff pinion nut?  
Maybe I am not calling it by the right name?
