I don't have the vendor name handy but the interior upholstery I bought was
made by PUI.  The upholstery all looked very good to me, the patterns all seem
correct and even though it's not real comfort weave it looks very much like
it.  In the past I have RR seat covers to re-stuff foam but this is the first
time I've ever taken the whole thing down to nothing and built it back up with
all new.  I may have messed up rebuilding the front seats because I put back
all the original pads (except for the foam) that went over the springs.  The
instructions for the new foam were not very clear but seemed to suggest that I
maybe shouldn't have put all that stuff back.  Anyway, the result was that the
front seat bottoms and backs wound up over stuffed.  On the front bottoms it
made it so I really had to pull and stretch the bottom upholstery to get it
down and the plastic retainers snapped into place.  Just about torn the
retainers out of the vinyl
"fabric" but it wound up OK.  On the seat backs it also took a lot of pulling
to get things tight enough so the vinyl came far enough in around the opening
in back that the plastic seat back covered it.  At the bottom edge I never was
able to get the seat cover far enough down over the seat back to actually have
it as far down as it was supposed to go so you can see some foam peaking out on
the bottom.  Very few people would spot it. Overall it came out OK.  When you
get your old seats apart you'll see that in addition to the foam the original
stuffing included some cotton batting to fully plump the outer edges of the
bolsters.  I reused some of the old stuff and some new Dacron batting.  Same
thing with the seat back.  For the rear seat I was certain that the new cover
was not wide enough but it turned out it was and just needed the usual pulling
and tugging and praying nothing tore in the process.  The rear seat doesn't
have a foam base,
just the springs and batting.  I had a nice piece of foam that fit it just
right and used that with a combination of old and new batting.  The rear is way
easier then the front.  You'll want a good set of hog ring pliers as you'll be
removing hundreds of old ones and putting in hundreds of new ones.  The
remaining area that just didn't work out "by the book" was tying down the
indented seam between the bolsters and the center seat panels for the fronts.
I had to make wire lengthners to make it work.  I think it was because I had
too much stuffing in the seat.   I'm sure I could do a better job second time
around.

Hi All...
Thx so far for the help on the other parts I mentioned.  Now for the interior.
I am wanting to get new seat covers for the 69 400 with the deluxe interior.  i
have heard that the original comfort weave material is no longer available.
I have looked at the major suppliers and it seems that they are all similar in
appearence.  I have to think that one company makes them and sells them to the
parts companies?
Anyways, good, bad, or ugly, all comments would be appreciated on where you
bought them, ease of installation, quality, and overall satisfaction or
disappointment.
thx again
Rick
