I totally understand you on deactivating for one website isn't deactivating for other websites, so I don't have any problem with that and it is working just perfectly.
The problem I have is that closing the window isn't the same as minimizing it because: 1. You don't see the detached window minimized to the window manager bar as it is closed 2. You don't see the Firebug minimized to the Firefox window because there is no status-bar So this is exactly why I think if window is closed and firebug still active re-attach it to the Firefox window and that's it.
