I thought this topic might be pertinent to this list.
On a small LAN that I have in my home, I am running an NT server (SP6a) with
WinGate Proxy/At Guard Firewall. I have recently downloaded and installed a
piece of freeware that listens for Port Scans and other various connections.
The freeware, by default, listens to ports 60, 120, 201, 407, 850, 1024 and
1026. I am aware that the last two are for the prevention of ICQ bomb
attacks, and the software even sets up a few "fake ports" to facilitate the
early discovery of this attack.
Are there any ports that you would recommend keeping an I on other than the
ones listed above? This is my home, not a business, so the At Guard
Firewall is looser than I am comfortable with (my family enjoys ICQ, online
card games, etc.).
Thanks for your advice and experience.
