*>>Just like Flash 8 feature requires Flash 8 Pro IDE
*Well thats wrong for a start...
*I can have 8 features even without any IDE, the feature are in the player,
*and as long as I can compile with MTASC I can have 8 features.
*
*The analogy is way off base.

You can have AMF without Flex 1 or Remoting server either, the AMF client
support is in the player.
You can use AMF PHP for the server .
But you can't have AMF2 or AS3 support until you have app that supports it.
It's not conspiracy, it's just fact of life.
*>>At least I never saw signs of this from Macromedia.
*Well did you see any signs it wasn't locked either? Or you just don't know
*either way?
*
*
No I just see Macromedia updated AMF so it's more efficient and works with
AS3.
Why should I see "OMG they actually updated it only to cut the OSS
software!"
One can say they also came up with AS3 only to cut MTASC, which can't
compile into AS3.
It's only normal that OSS efforts will come a bit later, both with AS3 and
AMF2, since OS community are not the one to invent the new Flash technology,
Macromedia is.
