Watch out for the "jump" - you are usually allowed to upgrade from 2
versions older for the cheaper price, but then anything outside that
costs the full price of the package, or the expensive upgrade (MX - CS3,
etc)
Other people have mentioned the combinations - you can get an
upgrade from Studio 8 - CS3, but having any of the other Adobe products
does not make a difference to this price. You can also go on Amazon,
(or ebay providing you can put up with all the shysters offering "backup
discs"), and buy the upgrades to build you up to the right place,
although you will probably need to get the "transfer of license"
document filled in by the seller if you do it this way. Watch out for
regional variations too - Adobe mentioned somewhere about having to
stick to a language / country variation once you have chosen that
package, so you probably won't be able to upgrade a US CS3 with a UK CS4
upgrade. This is not a huge problem as they are both English versions,
but for other language speakers it could be.

The upgrade from CS3 Master to CS3.3 Master is $159. On the other hand,
upgrading to the Master Collection from CS2 Premium is $1,999.
My guess is that, if you have the CS3 Master Collection, the upgrade to CS4
would probably be closer to $159 than $1,999. Basically a guess, though--it
could be a lot more.
