I have to agree a little, but I mostly strongly disagree.

I bought a Quad Core Vista machine over a year ago with dual monitors
specifically for my Flex 5000A after I sold my FTDX-9000. I struggled to get
the Flex to run with Vista ... even when it did I still had lockups. After
I finally threw out Vista and installed XP all was good. The basic
installation was a snap. Granted it takes a great deal of additional effort
/ learning curve if you want to add on lots of toys (integrated CW Skimmer,
logging, spotting, etc, etc) ... but the support is good the knowledge base
is extensive with many step by step articles / how to's supporting products
not made by Flex. My FLEX now works awesome ... I couldn't live without the
panadapter (especially compared to what I consider to be useless eye candy
provided by competitive products such as Yaesu's DMU). The Flex gets better
everyday and the updates coming shortly should make this even better (more
features, fancy GUI, and especially the V/U upgrade).

What I love the most is that I run my radio in my office ... the flex sits
below my office in the basement ... no fan noise, no clutter, no multiple
coax's and wires going everywhere (just a firewire, speakers, and mic) ...
very clean.

Unfortunately it is true that this radio may not be for all people ... but I
don't see any real issues for anyone to easily get a rock solid FLEX
installation (XP).

Please let me know how much "money down the drain" you wish to recoop as I
am in the market for another FLEX.

Kevin

I have the same problem with my Flex 5000A and Vista 64. It locks up all the

time. I have tried everything. Reinstall all SDR software. Reinstall all the

drivers, disable UAC disable internet connection even disable Norton It's a
new computer with plenty of power. I give up. Putting it back in the box and

on the shelf with the other stuff that doesn't work like it should. More
money down the drain.
