IIRC, the standard "checker" programs can do all except evaluate
firewire performance. Perhaps one of our software guys could write a
quickie firewire performance checkout program.
Surely if the radio can give us a pass-fail test in actual use (by
either working or not for 24 hours straight), a program could be
written to do the same - all required functions, not just the DPC
latency thingie.

It really would be nice if there was such a critter, but there
really isn't. Windows was never intended to be a real-time audio
processing operating system and most "checker" programs just test
things to get metrics and make some arbitrary statement about
performance. The DPC checker is the best thing we have for
determining system latencies that adversely affect real-time performance.

Sure would be nice if we had a test suite of programs to completely
check out a problem computer, and permissible ratings for the various
functions tested. Something like "performance test" (
http://www.passmark.com/ ), but with the additional tools to check
the other parts of the computer as required.
