Yes, but you can't do that on a power laptop that has only 1 express-pci
slot.  

The issue is within the Vista OS and I don't feel like spending more days
trying to debug it.  I could also downgrade the vista laptop to xp, but it
is a 4G laptop and finding the Gateway drivers is actually harder than it
should be.  I did it with one previous laptop and promised not to it again.
Beside, Vista is vastly 'faster' than XP on the same hardware once tuned.

I had similar problems with lock-ups with my FLEX 5000A and a new PC; 
however, after installing a stand-alone firewire card, the FLEX 5000A works 
like a champ with VISTA 64.
