I do very much want to thank everyone who participated in quickly
tracking down and nailing this problem.  Opengl state management
problems can be a *huge* bear to find and debug (for many of the same
reasons that goto's are usually bad.)  It is quite a relief to have
found and fixed this one so quickly, but it never could have been done
without everyone pitching in.  Open-source in action. :-)
