Jon, What would be the implications of having JSBsim report the aircraft position to flightgear at the nose? (ie lon/lat/alt of nose) Is it possible, difficult, slow?. One possible solution for the chase view problem, is adding "target offsets" to the view modes where the camera is tracking a target (the chase view for example). This could be used to eliminate any strangeness in the appearance if the origin is at the nose. In fact it would no longer matter where the origin is so long as the FDM's agree on a location, making it possible to place the 3D model correctly once and for all.
