I'm getting the problems with different accounts too.  None of them are major 
but part of the reason I've become unhappy with Gnome is that when these 
small and relatively unimportant problems come up I'm finding it increasingly 
difficult fix them manually.  A lot of the config info is difficult to find 
and amend and it seems unnecessarily obscure.

ratpoison :)   I'll have a look at it but I generally don't have any launchers 
on the desktop.  Daft place to put them, imo, because there's always a window 
covering them up when I working.
