That's the strange thing.
Under Windows I can maximize the window (1024x768) or start it maximized 
without any problems.
Not so under Linux.
I'm using the same nVidia driver version and same hardware.

I have a feeling it's GLUT because all my other OpenGL apps run fine under 
Linux in full screen or maximized mode.
But let me not get onto the GLUT issue (I much prefer SDL)

Anyway I plan to replace my video card sometime so till then I'll keep running 
in a little window.
