I have a new notebook (an HP TX1220, which is a stunningly beautiful machine), and decided to try compiling the latest CVS osg FlightGear instead of using the old precompiled plib version from the Ubuntu distro. Here are some comments:
1. Wow! The program is looking great. It was a very nice surprise to start up the Warrior and see so much detail from my own plane (including the ugly 1979 upholstery). 2. I see that there are still some issues with OSG, particularly with random objects and visibility. Right now, fgfs isn't usuable for IFR practice -- my main use -- because of the strange artifacts flying through low ceilings and vis, so I have to keep the old plib version on my HD as well. 3. Still no version 1.0, Curt? I don't have a lot of time to contribute, but I might try to help with #2, if anyone can point me to archived messages or other resources discussing the problem.
