At the time (around May or so), the OSG version was still missing some features that are present in the PLIB version. These include 3D clouds among others, and a few more technical details, which I can't really remember off the top of my head. So the plan was to do one more plib based release and then switch over. This would give the OSG people some more time to complete the switchover. Unfortunately we didn't manage to get a release out in May. Currently, the situation isn't as clear anymore, because the OSG version also has many new features which the PLib version doesn't, but on the other hand, because of that, the plib version might be a bit more stable. For that, and for logistical reasons, I'd like to stick to the original plan.
