For me the following solutions are acceptable:

 0.9.11  ... as the logical successor

 0.9.90  ... making clear that we are now really close to 1.0
             and that there won't be many releases until then,
             if any at all (This was done in other projects as well.)

 1.0     ... not my favorite, but viable  (I'd be tempted to
             call it  v1.0 "daylight edition" ;-)


What is absurd and completely unacceptable:

 0.9.12
