Thanks AJ, Curt, and Erik. Sounds like I should do a complete build and install from cvs rather than using the update command. What is the advantage of doing cvs update?
The advantage of "cvs update" is that you can keep your source tree current with all the latest development changes.
If you are talking about your bringing your v0.9.8 tree up to current and trying to decide if you should check out a new tree, or just update the existing one, that's more of a personal preference.
If you want to keep your v0.9.8 tree intact then just check out a new copy. If you are worried about bandwidth, then a cvs udpate might save you a few bytes transfered.
Seems to me that update would be used more frequently than a full checkout (eg weekly basis). So since it's been 7-8 months since I installed 0.9.8, I might as well do a complete install of source to another directory. And as Curt said, this will allow me to keep the working version as it now stands.
Yup, cvs is just a tool, you get to decide how best you want to use it. :-) Curt. -- Curtis Olson http://www.flightgear.org/~curt HumanFIRST Program http://www.humanfirst.umn.edu/ FlightGear Project http://www.flightgear.org Unique text: 2f585eeea02e2c79d7b1d8c4963bae2d _______________________________________________ Flightgear-users mailing list [email protected] http://mail.flightgear.org/mailman/listinfo/flightgear-users 2f585eeea02e2c79d7b1d8c4963bae2d
