Total computer lockups usually point to an issue with your hardware,

"Should"? I'm sorry, but I'm far too cynical to take "should" as
definitive of _anything_. I suspect that hardware (particularly with
the climate I live in) or drivers are at fault, but I would like to
track down which. I would like to know why only certain aircraft have
done this, and why they do it reliably: Every time, and after
approximately the same period of time. Presumably, there are
commonalities between the aircraft, such as YASIM/whatever, as Dene
suggested, or something similar. When I have the time, I will look
into that.

It is, however, only FlightGear that has resulted in this sort of
lockup since Netscape stopped being the only decent full-graphics
browser available for Linux. I also have TORCS (torcs.sf.net), and
have spent considerably more time in that than in FlightGear. I turn
the graphics up to as high a quality and resolution as my hardware can
take, and spend considerable amounts of time driving, with no problem.
X-server crashes I have had, CPU race conditions I have killed, but
total lockups? Only in FGFS.

Somehow, somewhere, FGFS is doing something that is either wrong, or
that exposes a problem. The question is: What?

Actually, I know that other people from Brisbane are on this list, so
if you happen to read this, could you tell me what your cooling setup
is? Please?

Ciao,
JH
