Just one additional hint to what Andrew answered - there is already a 
very nice windturbine model in FlightGear!

A real *lot* of them (may be many thousands) are placed in FlightGear 
for Germany (I am not sure they are already in the default scenery but 
you can get them as additional scenery from Jon Stockill's repository 
http://fgfsdb.stockill.org/ ) and if you want to have a look at them in 
the sim just install northern Germany and have a nice sim-flight - you 
can't miss them as they are *anywhere* like in real life.
