I would like to import 3D models of buildings, trucks, etc. onto the terrain and orient them using roll, pitch, and yaw functions to place them correctly on level or sloping terrain.    Essentially, I could place hangars, fuel trucks, etc.  around an airstrip with commercial/community buildings away from the airstrip.   Sloping terrain  will be away from the airstrip.  Construction sites and associated equipment, apartment buildings, streets, traffic lights, etc. would all be a part of the community.

The models are in .obj format.  The three application packages I use most to build the models are Blender, Art of Illusion, and Wings3D.

I understand that SRTM data can be imported.

After a quick review of the Flight Gear Manual dated June 2006, I was unable to find a way to import 3D models that are in .obj format.

Is this possible to do in FlightGear?  If so, can anyone provide instructions on how to do this or point out where instructions exist?

I'm using Windows XP and am not a software developer.

Sincerely,

LE
