Isn't Mike Stone the Guy who releases all of his work explicitly into the public domain? If so, we should have no problem at all converting these models and rereleasing them, even without his explicit permission. I think we could even release the converted versions under the GPL, but I'm not a licencing expert, in this matter. Anyways, it might be worth looking into.
