I upgraded my OpenSUSE 10.1 x86_64 to 10.2 end of December 2006 and had absolute no problems. During the upgrade process you are asked to keep or reinstall a lot of stuff which is found and I decided to reinstall nearly all except Wine, Lazarus and other programs from "outside". I was very surprised that even Wine worked as before the upgrade. Naturally I had to install all "not OpenSource drivers" which is a decision of the OpenSUSE developers not to support this stuff. One of them was the NVidia driver which worked very fine afterwards. I remember that there is a step for step installation manual from NVidia and on one Wiki site which I followed very carefully. There was absolutely no need to compile any kernel source or something like that - I would have given up at this point as an absolutely Linux n00b. Only to add, I had to reinstall all that additional stuff you need to compile FlightGear (CVS) but this was very easy using the YAST system. So there might be two sides of the medal, I got the lucky one :-) Regards Georg EDDW ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys. Earn Cash.
