On 10.5-i386, the Sudoku demo does display menu accelerators with their 
cloverleaf, and they work. But when I compile it PPC/SDK 10.3 they
disappear. Strange, because I did not touch any of that code.

I have here the very same menubar demo between Carbon and Cocoa:
both use alt shortcuts (expected if FL_ALT is in the source code)
and both display it upside down relatively to the keyboard.
