If I understand the history correctly, the UTF-8 interface in FLTK-1.3.x
is a hybrid of the FLTK2 code and the unofficial 1.2 fork by O'ksi'd,
with a lot of integration work by Matt and Ian. There was talk of trying
to define a common low-level interface to the UTF-8 stuff that could be
shared by both FLTK-1.3.x and FLTK2. After the 1.3.x release of course.

Cheers
