Perhaps you can clear something up for me. Is FLTK2 the ultimate goal or is 
1.3.x going to slowly evolve into what FLTK2 was intended to be? For example, 
if one was going to work on an abstraction layer, what version would they be 
working with? Based on what I've seen so far, it would almost make more sense 
to create the abstraction in 1.3.x and then pull the new api over as a 
completely separate interface. That should make everyone happy.
