I understand that others are using nano-X with fltk, but I tried it  
for a while many years back and it did not work very well - it was  
not a very good "interpretation" of X, and a lot of stuff just did  
not work right.

It may well have got a lot better since, but in the meantime things  
like KDrive and other changes in the main X.Org and XF86 tree's have  
made the usefulness of these alternate implementations questionable...
