it might have more to do with a plethora of stupid titles persistent
in the visual arts. music seems unaffected mostly because usually
there is some sort of established reference point. plus ir's much more
difficult to get music released. it seems it is most bad with the "traditional"
visual arts like painting and sculpture, which may point to the fact 
those forms are obsolete in some way. too many "amoeba apartheid
heartbeats" (to borrow a title from a comic book satirizing bad art)
running around.
