OK, below are the answers I have from our resident expert. Hope they help. Mark

Surrey, BC, CANADA [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.safe.com Solutions for Spatial Data Translation, Distribution and Access ================================================ Q) Can I convert an FME workspace to an ETL tool in ArcGIS, or vice versa? A) No. They can't be opened or converted. Q) Can I copy the content of an FME workspace to an ETL tool, or vice versa? A) To a certain extent. v9.1 - only transformers can be copied v9.2 - transformers and reader/writers can be copied Q) What transformers are available in the data interop extension compared to FME. A) Depends on the version of ArcGIS v9.1 - About 85% of the transformers are available v9.2 - Virtually all of the transformers are available Q) How do I copy content to a data interop ETL tool? A) You'll need a computer with both FME and ArcGIS on it. Create a new tool that translates from NULL format to NULL format. Open the workspace in FME. Press CTRL-A to select all content and choose Edit > Copy Paste the content in the data interop ETL tool. Q) Does it matter which version of FME I copy content from? A) It should be one that is older than the version of FME that forms the basis for the version of ArcGIS used! So copying a transformer from a brand new FME2007 workspace into an existing 9.1 tool may not work. I say "may" - it depends on if the transformer has been updated. You can tell by the version. You can find the version in Workbench by applying Tools > Options > Workbench > Show Transformer Versions. To find the version in an ETL tool is more tricky - perhaps place a transformer, copy it to WB and see what it reports. Q) Can I copy or move an ETL tool from machine to machine to distribute to a number of users? A) Not at the tool level, but you can copy the toolbox which is just as useful and simple. ====================================================== --- In [email protected], "Jeff Konnen" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Hi Jamison, > > this is an interesting problem. > I'd also be glad to have more infos about this ... > > My primary concern is: > > If I created an FMW in FME Workbench, how can I convert it to a "FME ETL > Tool" in ArcGIS 9.2. > I know that I can create an new one and copy/paste all the content, but is > there an other way to get it there? > > Greetings, > Jeff > > On 4/25/07, jamison_leach <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > > Hello, > > > > Am I correct that Workbench files created with FME cannot be > > opened with the ArcGIS DataInteroperability extension?
