We fixed a few thing regarding border placement
in the awt renderer (-awt, -print), although I'm not
completely sure this covers what your seeing --
particularly since you report problems in PDF.
(I believe everything we did simply fixed things that
rendered differently in -awt and -print vs -pdf.)
fyi, the awt renderer changes are included in the latest
snapshot and will presumably be in 0.20.0
