i agree, this is a problem hard to overcome, but we don't need to
attract that many people, just a few more to have enough power to keep
things rolling.

is there a difference?
how do you push the tools to other distros without wrapping them?

when we build fedora sources with conary, isn't that exactly the desired
end result? the rest is showing fedora devs that they can drop rpm now
without loosing anything.

well, that's a dream, and i would not aim for that now, but if we
successfully import fedora it would show that it is possible to switch.
and that will raise some eyebrows.

aiming to change fedora is unrealistic, but getting spinnoffs to base on
foresight instead of fedora, debian or ubuntu, that's an interesting and
i believe achievable goal. we just need to show them how much easier it
is, and that cases like solusos (
http://fossforce.com/2013/10/solusos-life-happensdistros-die/ ) wouldn't
happen with foresight because conary is designed to make spinnoffs easy.

indeed, but there are exceptions. soulsos is one such example. what he
had wasn't good enough. unfortunately he had to realize that being
better takes a lot more work. and here is where we can make a
difference.

greetings, martin.
