carbonize: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- >From the way you're talking anyone would think you're the only web developer out there who knows what he's doing.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I frequent several forums with web developers that know a hell of a lot more than I do. But I doubt that any of them would question the merits of code folding. (A large percentage of them are Mac users, and virtually all of them use BBedit - which has code folding.)
Fred is right; everyone is entitled to their own opinion, regardless of how unfounded or inconceivable I may find yours. I will reiterate, though, that all the major, commercial IDEs have code folding. From that we can infer that a significant number of professional developers consider it an important feature. Your arguments (that code folding can be obviated with proper separation of content and structure, or by spreading objects out across multiple pages) simply don't hold water. If you don't like or use code folding, fine. That's your prerogative. But obviously many professional developers do, or it wouldn't be incorporated into every professional grade IDE. -- <http://forum.pspad.com/read.php?2,40270,40329> PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
