Nope... There are a lot of devices out there, mostly ATAPI, that do not conform to the ATA/ATAPI command protocols. Those are broken devices and they need to be called broken devices. We should not be changing the ATA/ATAPI command protocols just because some engineer didn't read the standard and someone purchased and shipped those broken devices. Sure, there are good reasons why companies purchase and ship those broken devices but that doesn't mean the ATA/ATAPI standard should be changed so that the devices conform.
