I think a small fee for .com.np (and free or .edu.np) could be levied
and the money used for a trust (hopefully FOSS Nepal ;), or some fund
that buys computers for people in villages.

And I think Mercantile should be thanked for providing their man-power
for free to administer the domains. I think they should continue to
provide the service for free and highlight their costs as donation and
possibly double the donation to the foundation....

About domain reservation, .np does not seem to be a big market to make
money out of it. This sort of domain trading does occur from time to
time, consider the case of pizza.com

I think entrepreneurship should be encouraged and if somebody is
willing to take the risk and get hold of some domains if they can make
a profit later, let them...

If you say that you can not trade domain names then why would you let
people buy land and then expect to make a profit selling then later,
or for that matter buy IT companies, or bank shares or whatever...

Fortunately there are laws now that prevent this kind of thing from
happening where people hijack your company name. I couldn't find the
exact reference right now but I know in many countries they now have a
law where a random person can not register for a domain that is known
to be of a company and then later try to sell the domain to that
company...

------------

Anyway, let's hope mercantile can satisfy everyone and still provide
the domain registration services or perhaps better taken over by
someone else who is not a company....
