I started and completed a version of eBarnamala about 1 year ago,
maybe more than that. I have not done much on it since then as I have
been pondering over another project that I mentioned to Jwalanta and
Jitendra. We have not got around to working on it. I will share my
idea on that project in a different mail.
eBarnamala was designed for early learners to play and learn the
Nepali language, specially letters, numbers and names. I planned to
add a lot of things to it, but didn't get around to it as I was doing
that alone and after a while it started getting to me.
I am happy if it can be taken up by the community as a community
effort. I think the potential for the software is good, specially in
the context of Nepal. I will be willing to help a lot if someone else
takes up the project, or community takes the lead. Because of my
commitments I am finding it hard to get thoroughly involved in
eBarnamala. Currently I do not have the code of it in public domain as
my website crashed recently. I will put it up within a week, or
someone can just email me and take it from me.
eBarnamala is written in Python and uses wxpython for GUI (wxGTK for
Linux). These are the only two pieces that I have used.
