The Spec File analysis uses this information to determine what files to parse. The Metadata analysis uses libextractor to determine information about various files. For example, the author in pdf files, the resolution of jpg's, etc. The spec file analysis just parses RPM spec files and puts that data (like dependencies, category, etc) into the database.
